Moving .... {+ a sick baby}

February 24th 2012

It's official!
We are moving to a new place!
We're still going to be in the town we're at now...
but in a cute little townhouse instead of an apartment.

We are beyond excited.
There have been lots of little things that have bothered us over the year and a half that we've been here in these apartments.
{raised rent...no yard...loud street...noisy neighbors...etc.}
Now, we're going to be in a quiet little neighborhood with a small yard and quiet neighbors.
{yay... and a little happy dance too. smile}

So.... our apartment right now looks a little like this...

and the pile just keeps growing and growing...

But at least I'm sorting through things and getting rid of stuff.
I LOVE that feeling!

In all of this chaos, though... Eithan has been under the weather.

Last week we took him to the doctor for his normal check-up,
and we found out he had an ear infection.
We started him on Amoxicillin.
Eithan loves taking medicine, so it was no problem getting him to take this.

But....

On Wednesday {2-22-12} he had a little rash on his legs that then moved to his chest and neck

And today...

{you can see it's on his face too}

In spite of this rash... he is still a happy go-lucky little boy.
He is playing and destroying things like normal.
He's not itching himself, he's not acting like he's ill at all.
One word: amazing.
Collin and I keep doting on him and trying to comfort him because he looks like he is sooo uncomfortable... but he is actually doing OK.

We finally took him back to the doctor today... and now he is on Benedryl and a Steroid to help with the swelling/inflammation/histamine reaction.

We are fairly certain that he is having a reaction to the Amoxicillin, but he may be having a reaction to red dye {it's in the amoxicillin}... we've had him react to red dye before... so we're uncertain.

But now... he will always be classified as allergic to Amoxicillin.

Yay... our First Allergy.
{In case you can't tell... I'm being sarcastic here... We're not really excited.}

Well... that's what's been happening in our little realm.
I'll post some pictures of the new place once we get a little settled.

Wish us luck with cleaning, moving, and taking care of Eithan!

A little Valentine's Day love...

from our home to yours.

Heart Shaped Peanut Butter and Honey Toast

32 Reasons Why Collin Loves Me
{He had them all throughout the apartment... I went and found them and put them all in one spot.}

Crochet Heart
{I have these hanging from the ceiling in the dining room}

Hearts from Books
{This garland is hanging in the living room- there are about 18 hearts total}

Pink Eggs
{We realized we were still hungry after toast... so we had some eggs too.}

Eithan opening his Valentine's Day Present
{a heart shaped crayon that we then colored with for a few minutes}

Happy Valentine's Day!

Chicco to Scenera.... What????

February 11th, 2012

The time finally came that we needed to move Eithan into a bigger car seat.
So, I did the only logical thing a girl can do.

I paid for a Consumer Reports membership for a month.

I thought that this would make buying a larger car seat much easier.
{ha ha ha ha}

I saw which one was #1 rated... and thought 'That's a reasonable price."
But then I couldn't find it/buy it anywhere {at least not in a masculine color}.
So, I looked at the #2 rated one... it was a little bit more than I wanted to spend.
Thus, we ended up going with the #3 rated one which is the Cosco Scenera.

I thought... all is well in the world again.
So... happy go-lucky me said... "Let's take pictures of changing car seats Collin... so wait for me!"

Leaving the wonderful Chicco Car Seat Base Behind.

Leaving the lovely Chicco Car Seat behind... We have many fond memories of this thing.
{like having bruises all over my shins because I kept hitting them with it, realizing that hauling a baby and a car seat when they weigh 25 pounds is impossible, Eithan being sooo tiny that he just barely fit into it... and many other memories.}

These words have brought me such comfort over the 15 months that we've been using it.

And then we came to this.

I took this right after we put it in... and we promptly had to take it out because we couldn't actually buckle Eithan into the car seat.... after fighting with it. Disassembling it. Putting it back together. Disassembling it again. Putting it back together again. Realizing we didn't have to do all of that if we had just paid attention to how the straps actually work.. {which we wouldn't have known unless we took the whole doggone thing apart}... we arrived at this.

{He didn't want to wear his shoes.}

I know some of you may be thinking "Why isn't it forward facing?"
We'll get there... he is still so short.. I'm sure he's not 3 feet tall, and the instructions say not to turn him around until he is 3 feet tall... so we're still facing backwards people!

So... all I have to say is this... Why doesn't Chicco make a toddler seat? I want them to badly. If they did... we wouldn't have had to go through all that... and I would be a much happier mama.

No. Consumer Reports did not fail me. All of the reviews said that they were 'not easy to install or use"... I should have known what I was getting myself into.

{sigh}
{I miss you Chicco... already.}

Art Garden...

February 3 2012
Pottery!

Brittany, Meghan and I went to the new pottery place in town.
They were having a 'girl's night out' with discounts and food, etc.
We decided it would be a great way to do a night out and something crafty.

It was sooo much fun!
We just painted and talked and drank pop and talked some more.
We all just enjoyed being away from the little 'uns and having some girl time.
{I've decided girl time is very vital to my life... I need more of it!}

Meghan and I painted a heart shape dish, and Brittany did a star bowl.

There were so many people there in the beginning... that we had a little bit of a difficult time at first figuring out exactly what we were supposed to do... but asking questions to people around us... and getting the owner's help... and we were on our way!

Here is the 'before' shot... there is a little paint on each of our hearts... but none of the real detailing was done yet.... {I should have gotten a picture of Brittany's too... darn it!}

And here they are! They are finished in the sense that we have painted them to our hearts content... and now the shop does it's magic and will glaze and finish them up!

{For your information... Meghan's is going to be red with a white flower... Brittany's is a dark gray with pops of a darkish-yellow... and mine is a light grey with red}

I will post pictures of what they look like when we pick them up.

All in all, a great experience. If any of you have a pottery place in town... go check it out! What a great way to socialize and craft and just enjoy time being creative. I'm thinking I want to sign up for an actual class that will teach me some molding and creating pottery pieces.
How fun would that be!!??!!

Do you think he will remember...??..

February 3rd 2012

That pushing the vacuum around with mom was the most amazing thing ever?
And that he was mad at mom when she put it away?
Because he just wanted to keep vacuuming and pushing it around the apartment?

I wish we could all remember when 'chores' were fun to do.

P.S. I found this adorable Jean Jacket at Goodwill for $3.99! And it still had the price tag on it!
