Snickerdoodle Scrumptiousness

These cookies were so delightful...
that we ate them within a day.

We did give some away, and take some to a party...
but for the most part we ate them.

Here is the recipe.
I found it on this blog.

Enjoy!

Snickerdoodles

1-cup butter, softened

1 ½ cups sugar

2 eggs

2 ¾ - 3 cups flour

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1-teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

3 Tablespoons sugar + 1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon for coating

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. In a bowl cream together butter, sugar, and eggs.

3. Add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Mix until cohesive dough is formed.

4.Portion into 1 ½ inch balls (these are small) then roll in cinnamon/sugar mixture.

5. Place about 2 inches apart on cookie sheet and bake for 9-11 minutes.

6. Transfer to wire rack to cool.

I love to make things.

How do you make these cute things...

and these...

without making this???

and this..??..

I really need some organizing ideas.

Ideas for a tight budget, but cute too.

Any inspiration??

Collin's Birthday

May 20th was Collin's 29th Birthday!

We weren't able to do anything too big on his special day...
but he did get French Toast and Eggs for breakfast
and little sticky notes all around the house saying "Happy Birthday"

It was the next day that we did his celebration.

And in honor of his special day,
we went to the fanciest restaurant in town...

Michael's On The Lake

Collin had a delicious salmon filet and I enjoyed a crab cake sandwich.
{both were excellent}

We did not enjoy this wonderful dinner by our little "lonesomes"...
The Schmidts and Mike Asay came with us!

{Left to Right: Mike Asay, Collin Winks, Joy Winks, Brittany Schmidt, and Tim Schmidt}

I must note here that our little one is not with us, he was babysat for the FIRST time.
{well babysat for the 1st time by a non- family member}
The wonderful Jones family watched Eithan and the Schmidt's little girls Macy and Sydney.

******

After this fine cuisine, we retired to the Schmidt's home for some chocolate cake.

Brittany and I made this cake from scratch.
Impressive, I know.
Unfortunately I didn't feel up to making the icing... so Collin did it.
What a good hubby.

{Yes, there are exactly 29 candles on that cake.}

Tim lighting all 29 candles...
during which one lighter died and we had to get another one {smile}

All those candles lit and Collin excited about it,
but Eithan, I think, looks a little terrified.

This is the "blowing" picture, but I missed Collin actually blowing.
He did blow them all out with one big 'gust' of air.
We were all amazed. Collin was amazed with himself.
He thought 29 candles would pose more of a challenge.

After all this... we played some games and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Happy Birthday My Love!
I am so glad that you are a part of my life
and that we get to share sweet memories like these together.

-- Slap him with your Pickle --
{P.S. I must put in this post the funniest quote of the evening... which was
"Slap him with your pickle" - this was said to me by Tim Schmidt when Mike and Collin decided not to move off the bench when I said I needed to use the restroom. We all laughed so hard at the thought of me using my "spear" of a pickle to slap the boys so that they would move. giggle. good times.}

what we woke up to this morning...

Eithan had been restless in bed for a while, so I finally peeked my ahead above the covers to see what was going on in that crib of his... and this is what we found.

The little munchkin twisted/rolled/scooted around in his crib {with his arms wrapped up} until he could see us in a "new" direction.

Gotta love this little guy!

possibly one of the cutest things i've ever made...

I just finished one of my MANY craft projects,

And I am really pleased with it.

I normally have issues with something about the item or concerns about something...

but this one...

not so much.

Here for your viewing pleasure is my version of a girl's bow holder.

{I didn't come up with this idea completely on my own, etsy, blogs and other people helped me with the idea.}

-cute cream frame with ribbon to hang it up-

-long pink ribbons to attach all those lovely bows and flowers to-

- hand stitched birdies and background-

What more could a little girl's room ask for?

{By the way, this is a baby present for someone else, I'm not going to make Eithan hang it in his room... wink wink... smile... giggle.}

this started with me wanting to tell you about feet...

May 7th 2011

We arrive home from our very long vacation... Eithan discovers something new...

his feet!

Happy Mother's Day to me!

Go to church, enjoy Sacrament Meeting, Sunday School and Relief Society.

Receive a very wonderful and unique Mother's Day gift from church... this wonderful CD.

Go to the Schmidt's house for dinner...

and all of a sudden Eithan is doing very well at this...

sitting up on his own!

{When did this happen? My little boy is getting so big!}

May 12th 2011

We go to "play group" for the first time at Knolls Vista Park.

Eithan squints and squirms when the sun gets in his eyes,
but loves watching all the kids go around and play.

He sees a little boy named Lane walking towards the jungle gym,
gets really excited and acts like he absolutely has to follow him to the play area...
so we do.
He then goes down a slide for the first time {with his mommy of course}.

--Note to self, I am much whiter than I thought I was... I need to bring and wear sunscreen... I have a sunburn from being out in the sun for only 1 1/2 hours!
And to top it off, the top of Eithan's head got a little burned too. Must buy baby sunscreen.--

{I forgot to take pictures... so sorry.}

May 13th 2011

Eithan tastes a banana for the first time.

He gives the "what is that weird stuff you're sticking in my mouth" face,
but then he realizes that it tastes good and opens his mouth for more.

{He is getting really good at sucking the food off his spoon.}

May 14th 2011

We are all going to go to the Farmer's Market today.

I am soooo excited!

This is the time of year where I look forward to every Saturday because of the market.

{I'll try to take pictures this time.. wink wink}

And that ... is what has been happening in the life of the Winks Family.
