Can you see it?

August 31 2011
I tried and tried....
and I succeeded!

{Ok, I didn't really try that hard... he was really smiley for a few minutes
and I was able to snap a couple good pics.}

Did you see it?
That little white protuberance on his gums?

WELL... Just in case you missed it.

And since I was snapping pictures anyway...
I had to include some of the cute ones from the "mini session".

Just a sweet Eithan face.

How can you not want to smile when you see this?
He was having so much fun trying to get the camera from me.

So there you have it folks!
A little tooth.
The second one that we felt the other day has disappeared for the moment.
But I have the feeling it will be making a reappearance soon.

Yay for teeth!

Who has teeth?

August 30th 2011
Well...
Look around and you'll find out who.
You'll see that little Eithan Owen's just came through.

Teeth. They are very much in style.
They must be very much worth while.
{Dr. Seuss}

It was on Friday August 26th that I felt his first little tooth poking through.
I wasn't sure if it was going to stay... but it did!
And yesterday {august 29th}, I felt another tooth right beside it.
{They are the front bottom incisors.}

It sure explains why he has been soooo grumpy lately.
And why he has been getting up A LOT at night.
He's been a little inconsolable lately.

He will hardly let me stick my fingers in his mouth to feel how they are doing....
so he is really not going to let me take a picture.

I'm going to try to in the next couple of days, but I doubt that I will be able to.
It's amazing to me how fast these little ones can wriggle and squirm to get away when they don't want you to do something to them.

But that's all for the exciting news today.

So... I'll just leave you with a picture of a fun book to read to your little one.

{P.S. For those of you who may not know. They have come out with a "new" Dr. Seuss Tooth book... all the same words... but different pictures by a different artist. So, if this version is the one you love... you better get it before it doesn't exist anymore.}

You Know How a PICTURE says a thousand words?

August 17th, 2011

playing with color

Last week I made 15 cards (ish).
All of them were gifts for loved ones.
In the process, though, I decided to take pictures of my two favorites.

People often ask me where I get my ideas...
Honestly... I don't know.
I see something that inspires me... file it away in that little head of mine...
and then it comes out at the most unexpected of times.

This was one of those times.

Simple.
Yet.
Beautiful.
(at least I think so...)

Shades of Blue

Shades of Pink

P.S. I don't mind if you all try this idea. It's a simple, easy way to make a fun card.

Enjoy!

9 Months

August 18th 2011
Our little guy is 9 months new!
Whew! Time sure flies, huh?

He is doing wonderfully.
He's growing and laughing and giggling...
{and today I heard someone say that he looks like the Gerber baby}

Some stats:
Head Circumference: 17 and 3/4 inches
percentile: 25-50

Length: 26 1/2 inches
percentile: 5

Weight: 19 pounds and 15.2 ounces
percentile: 25-50

So... he's a short, chubby baby with an average sized head.
But he sure looks cute doing it!

I like this one, but you can't see his whole body.
(a)

Whole body shot, with the hands on the tummy 'belly laugh'.
(b)

{You guys tell me... a .... or .... b?}

-He's crawling all over the place!
{This means he is starting to follow us around when we put him down.}

-He's climbing everything he can grab.
{Chairs, TV, Mom, Dad, Bookshelves.}

-He is taking fewer naps now.
{I don't mind because he is a happy baby, though sometimes he won't lay down when I know he's tired...
so the fewer naps can be difficult.}

-Eating lots of different types of solid foods.
{Pretty much whatever we can mash up.}

-Is sleeping better through the night
{We still get up and put his pacifier in his mouth at least 2 times a night.}

-Sits in the shopping cart by himself
{I didn't like doing this earlier (germs), but he does just fine,
and he's starting to demand getting out of the car seat... so it's a little necessary.}

-Loves putting everything he can find in his mouth.
{No matter what it is.... mom and dad's dirty laundry... ugh.}

-Loves being held by anyone.
{He really isn't shy... he'll play with about anyone.}

-All around adorable little man in our lives.

Crawling Along...

August 14th 2011

Eithan has been scooting along for a while now...
but this last week and a half he's started really crawling.

I thought that this would be a slow process,
but he started crawling...climbing...discovering like crazy!

It is fun and exciting and scary all at the same time.
And let's just say... my house is not baby proof.

Thus, the last couple of days have been interesting here in the apartment,
as we figure out all the things he can get into.
{And I try to get everything put away.}

Just another cute one that I liked...

And for your viewing pleasure... a fun video of his adorable crawl.

Riding a Horse... for real!

August 4th, 2011
When I did my post about visiting daddy at camp,
I told you all about Eithan riding a horse.
{This happened on July 19th 2011}

I finally have pictures of it!

It is too cute.

{1}
I have just set him up on the horse.
And he's already going after that horn.

{2}
Looking like a riding pro.
(I love that he looks like he's riding all by himself.)

{3}
It was a short ride.. just to the end of the corral you see on the right.
{I think this one is a cute "mommy 'n me" photo.}

{4}
How cute is this one?
He was smiling like crazy the whole time he was riding.
He even giggled/laughed a few times.

I think this picture about sums up how he felt about the whole thing.

{5}
So.... sweet.... and adorable.

{6}

Near the end of the ride he started eating the horn of the saddle.
I tried to get him to stop, which he kinda did,
but I think he gave it a final lick even after I pulled him off it.
Boys...

{7}
He started to slide around a little near the end.
So I am trying to keep him in the saddle at this point.
He started to lay down on his tummy and just hold on the horn from that position.

*******
The lovely lady in red is the one who was leading us along.
Her name is Ms. Renee, and she was the person at camp taking care of the horses.
It was her idea to have him go for a ride,
and I'm sure glad she had it... because he {and I} had so much fun doing it!

*******
{8}
His face is just priceless in this one.
{You can see how much I enjoyed it too...}

All in all, a really good experience for him.
Hopefully we'll be able to take him riding again in the future.

And finally....
The three of us together at camp.

We are at the campfire watching the staff perform their skits.
And as you can tell... it was cold, so I was trying to keep Eithan bundled up...
and he wasn't liking that one little bit.

We miss our daddy.
But he comes home the end of this week!
Yay!
